Why we built it
Most parents have to go through their district's website, find a Nutrislice or LinqConnect portal, click through three menus, and squint at a menu card to find out whether today's entrée contains peanuts. We wanted a single place to look up any participating school's menu — and to filter quickly by allergens or dietary needs.
Lunch Menu helps caregivers plan meals, accommodate allergies, and make informed choices about what their kids eat at school each day.
How the data is sourced
Menus come from the public APIs of two major school nutrition platforms — Nutrislice and LinqConnect — which together cover most U.S. public school districts that publish menus online. We fetch and cache menu data daily, normalize the formats, attach allergen and dietary tags, and surface nutrition facts (calories, protein, carbs, fat, sodium, fiber, sugar) where the upstream data includes them.
We index only schools whose menus are publicly accessible via these APIs. We do not collect or store any student or staff information.
